Olive 'Gemlik' has been planted in different ecological regions in Turkey; growers have started to focus on some yield and quality problems and want to use grafting (top processing) with local varieties.
Although there is no problem of vaccine compatibility between varieties in the literature, it has been very difficult to give advice to breeders for top processing, as problems have been encountered when local varieties are vaccinated on Gemlik Decoction. The plant material used in this study was composed of Ayvalık, Domat, Gemlik, Memecik, Nizip Yağlik and Sarı Ulak varieties. These varieties were grafted on a 1-year-old 'Gemlik' rootstock propagated with cuttings (T-budding). According to the results of phenolic compound variance analysis, high levels of 4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, vanylic acid and ferulic acid content were determined in 'Ayvalik', 'Nizip Oil' and 'Domat' products.
