Problems of Turkish olive growing and suggestions for solutions

Olive growing has become one of the most important fields of activity of agriculture in our country after the Republic. With the directives of Atatürk "on a trip to the Yalova region in 1929 to give the necessary importance to olive growing, the olive growing mobilization was initiated in our country and the Bornova Olive Growing Research Institute was established in 1937 to conduct research on olive growing.

On the other hand, olives are the only plant that has a law (“Law on the Breeding of Olive Cultivation and Vaccination of Wildlings” dated 26/01/1939 and numbered 3573) that causes the producers who do not take care of their garden and do not have maintenance to be punished. Olive growing in our country has developed at a great pace after many years by establishing new, well-maintained, healthy and productive gardens by experts trained abroad.
